Registration

Please register to the conference using the link below. There is no participation fee, and everybody is invited to attend the talks, regardless of whether they are presenting themselves or not. We would like to ask non-presenting participants to register as well to ensure proper preparations for the conference venue. The reception on Friday does have a small participation fee to cover the cost of food and drinks (see below).
The registration form can be found here.

Important dates:
April 5: Revised abstract submission deadline for the main conference; deadline for registration for presenting participants.
April 12: Language Science Pecha Kucha abstract submission deadline
April 24: Registration deadline for Pecha Kucha participants; payment deadline for the evening reception for all participants.

Abstract revision guidelines:
When preparing the final, revised version of your abstract, please follow these guidelines:
  • The final version must be in plain text (.txt) format, the reccommended length limited to 4000 characters as before (including spaces and references).
  • Check the style sheet and format your abstract to conform to the (few) guidelines therein. Since it's plain text, there is not much to format, really. The template also contains guidelines for special characters/formatting, should you require them.
  • Send your abstract as an attachment(s) to whylinguistics[[at]]gmail.com by April the 5th  (kindly send it earlier if possible!). On the subject line, write "Revised Abstract" (without the quotes) to help us sort our mail.
  • The conference has decided to keep it green by not printing paper abstract booklets - but of course  the abstracts and the program will be available online on this web site. The version you submit will be uploaded to the web page and made available to the public, so please make sure to send us your revised version, even if you chose not to make changes to the text itself.
  • When revising your abstract, keep in mind that the talks are intended to take 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for questions and discussion.
  • If you have any questions, contact the organizers.

Guidelines to the Language Science Pecha Kucha participants

Step 1. Submit your short abstract by the 12th of April (guidelines here).
Step 2. You will receive your notification of acceptance (or rejection) in a few days (up to a week) from the submission deadline. After that, please register before the 24th of April. Note that if you wish, you may also revise your abstract until that date, but this is completely optional.

Registration to the reception on Friday (8th of May)

- Step 1. When you register to the conference (using one of the links above), there will be a question asking about participation in the reception event in the registration form. Select 'Yes'. The fee is 20 EUR. Proceed to make a payment via credit card or bank transfer before the 24th of April: click here for details. Note: for members of the IKTDK, the reception is free of charge, but for your doctoral school to be able to cover your reception fee, you would still have to register (using the form linked above; don't forget to select 'Yes' for the reception option).
- Step 2. Bring your best mood! Food and drinks will be served on the sixth floor glass lounge of the Department of Mathematics and Informatics of the University of Tartu (located at Liivi street 2), with a beautiful view overlooking the springtime Tartu. Update: also, a musical performance by one of our own conference participants will likely take place during the reception.
